Summer Activites

The girls and I have been trying our best to keep busy this summer, despite the fact that we don't know anybody in Wyoming.  Jayce was moved up to level four in gymnastics and has class seven hours a week now, so that takes up a lot of our time.  Her gym here is pretty awesome.  She has gotten down several new skills in just two weeks.  It's a family-owned business, and the bars coach is an old man, but he is super tough.  Jayce thinks he's cranky, but he pushes the girls hard.  We're not looking forward to traveling to her meets; nothing is nearby here.

Claire has been sleeping in her own bed since we moved here.  I decided that with the change of scenery, it would be easier to try again.

 They read first...
It has taken a little bribery in the form of My Little Ponies to keep her in bed all night. Don't mention it to Jayce, but she loves the ponies just as much as Claire, and it is her new favorite TV show.  It made me so happy that she likes something girly.  She even braids her ponies' hair.
Sometimes Claire ends up in Jayce's bed, but it's better than mine!
We've been tending this little guy for a couple weeks.  His dad works with Blake, and he is visiting for the month.  Claire thinks he is the coolest, and is constantly trying to impress him.
Here is my little summer project.  We tried to sell our armoire in Pueblo because it doesn't match our furniture anymore, but had no luck.  We were going to donate it to Good Will, but the elders loaded it in our moving truck, so it went to our apartment.  I couldn't stand looking at it, but we need it for storage, so I decided to paint it.

It's fake wood on the sides and back, and I've had horrible luck painting that stuff, so I decided to try to wallpaper sections of it (I got the idea from Pinterest).  It took me about a week to finish the whole thing.  I wish I took progress pictures.  I sanded it down to the bare wood on the front, applied two coats of primer, four coats of paint (I seriously picked the wrong brand), applied the wallpaper, distressed the wood, rubbed black stain lightly on the distress marks, ModPodged the wallpaper, and applied four coats of polyurethane.  I painted the hardware black and got new pretty knobs at Hobby Lobby.  I think I'm done with projects for a while.

I love how it turned out, but Blake hates it.  He doesn't mind having our furniture not match, but it drives me crazy.

The front, doors, trim, legs, and top are solid wood, but the sides are not.  I never realized until I decided to paint it.  Kind of silly if you ask me.
Here is my sexy furniture model.
I wish I took a before picture.  I found this picture that Blake took of me a year ago that kind of shows how it looked.  It was nice enough, but kind of outdated.  The bookshelves are in the girls' room.  I'm thinking about painting them, but Blake might kill me if I start another project, especially since we have no garage.

Claire Bear

Here are a few of Claire's latest sayings:

My pinky pie toe is stuck.
Tootis not love me.  He love Jayce.
Oh no- you got a bleed?
I think Doran's eyes are actually blue like mine.
I so pretty.
Mean lady is so MEAN!
I be Dorothy.  You be Glinda.
Pink is mine.  Blue is Jayce.
(After telling her that I have a migraine) You got a yougraine, Mom?
My Jayce hoit (hurt) my feelings!
I so nice!
I can't go to time-out EVER GIN!

She is so smart and so funny.  She has always been happy and hyper.  I thought she would be my outgoing child, but she has gotten very shy like her big sister.  She gets obsessed with movies and TV shows, so I have to be careful what I let her watch, or I have to see The Wizard of Oz  or The Sound of Music hundreds of times.  She sings along and makes me sing with her, but she won't let me sing the parts of Dorothy and Maria.  She still has quite the temper.  It's so embarrassing when she throws a fit in public.  She screams so loud and likes to bang her head on the floor.

I'm so glad we have her in our family.  I couldn't imagine life without her!
