Claire has been sleeping in her own bed since we moved here. I decided that with the change of scenery, it would be easier to try again.
They read first...
Sometimes Claire ends up in Jayce's bed, but it's better than mine!
We've been tending this little guy for a couple weeks. His dad works with Blake, and he is visiting for the month. Claire thinks he is the coolest, and is constantly trying to impress him.
Here is my little summer project. We tried to sell our armoire in Pueblo because it doesn't match our furniture anymore, but had no luck. We were going to donate it to Good Will, but the elders loaded it in our moving truck, so it went to our apartment. I couldn't stand looking at it, but we need it for storage, so I decided to paint it.
It's fake wood on the sides and back, and I've had horrible luck painting that stuff, so I decided to try to wallpaper sections of it (I got the idea from Pinterest). It took me about a week to finish the whole thing. I wish I took progress pictures. I sanded it down to the bare wood on the front, applied two coats of primer, four coats of paint (I seriously picked the wrong brand), applied the wallpaper, distressed the wood, rubbed black stain lightly on the distress marks, ModPodged the wallpaper, and applied four coats of polyurethane. I painted the hardware black and got new pretty knobs at Hobby Lobby. I think I'm done with projects for a while.
I love how it turned out, but Blake hates it. He doesn't mind having our furniture not match, but it drives me crazy.
The front, doors, trim, legs, and top are solid wood, but the sides are not. I never realized until I decided to paint it. Kind of silly if you ask me.
Here is my sexy furniture model.
I wish I took a before picture. I found this picture that Blake took of me a year ago that kind of shows how it looked. It was nice enough, but kind of outdated. The bookshelves are in the girls' room. I'm thinking about painting them, but Blake might kill me if I start another project, especially since we have no garage.
