Granny and Maama Visit

This past weekend Granny and my mom came to Colorado to visit us.  I've been begging Granny to come see me for a couple of months now.  My mom has been here four or five times, so it was really sweet of her to come with Granny.  The girls adore both of them.  They call my mom "Maama" and Claire calls Granny "Nanny".

Heading to the airport- the girls were so excited to see their grandmas.
Jayce had a sleepover every night with Granny and Maama at the hotel.

Hanging out at our house

The girls got cute new Halloween outfits from Maama.

Jayce loved the continental breakfast.  There is a worker at the hotel that they call the waffle nazi, because every time somebody made a waffle he hovered over them and took over if they didn't do it the way he liked.
We went and saw Dolphin Tale.  I was pleasantly surprised.  I wasn't really looking forward to seeing it, but it was really good.  It was a fun movie to take kids to.  Claire had to leave after about 20 minutes, because she still can't sit through a movie without getting restless.

Our backyard- yikes!  It needs a lot of work!

The reservoir

Jayce thought it was funny to freak Granny out by climbing on rocks and getting close to the edge.

We went to Colorado Springs the last day before I had to take my mom and Granny to the airport.  We went to Garden of the Gods, which was really beautiful and a nice little walk.
I was so sad to see them leave.  We've been spoiled with a lot of visitors since we've moved here, but I always hate it when they go.  I was especially sad this time, probably because I hate to see Granny go home and be sad and lonely without Poppy.  I hope we can visit Utah soon!

The Ledge

Every time I look at our living room ledge, it causes me great stress.  I hate decorating, and I have no idea what to do with it.  Half of it is in the dining room, which I have decorated yellow, cream, and warm colors, and the other half is in the living room which is black, gray, and cream.  I just can't stand having nothing there, but I don't know what to put there.

We have another ledge on the opposite wall that is half the size.  I've attempted to decorate it.  I used some of our old stuff and painted everything to try to match the living room.  I bought a lot of it at thrift stores and yard sales and refinished/ painted them.  It still doesn't look quite right.  I need to find some greenery or flowers or something to tie it all together.
Candle holders for $0.75 each.

Bird cage from the thrift store $3.  I want to find something to put in it.  I used to have the coolest bird cage in my first apartment, and I really wish I kept it.  This one is kind of wussy, but oh well.
My favorite- wicker vase from good will that I painted black with a little dust of silver.
